Georgia Hires 28-Time All-American Stefanie Williams to Replace Capitani

The Georgia women have hired former 28-time All-American for the Bulldogs Stefanie Williams to replace departed assistant Carol Capitani, who left in the spring to become the head coach for the women at the University of Texas.

Williams is very familiar with head coach Jack Bauerle’s coaching system, as during her four-year tenure there she helped the team to earn three-straight NCAA Championships as a team from 1999-2002. Out of her 28 All-American awards (the maximum that can be earned under current rules), she has 4 event national championships and 24 first-team honors (meaning top-8 finishes).

Williams has spent the last four years as an assistant with the women of Ohio State, as that program has been built from a Big Ten bottom-feeder to one of the country’s most rapidly-improving programs. Last season, she received a promotion to Associate Head Coach, but even that wasn’t enough to hold onto her when her alma mater came calling.

She has also spent time as an assistant at Missouri.
