Camille Lacourt Pulls Out of Canet Mare Nostrum Stop With Hip Pain

Camille Lacourt will join country mate Yannick Agnel as two significant members of the French National Team excused from the upcoming Mare Nostrum stop in Canet, according to France’s L’Equipe.

The meet in Canet will begin on Wednesday, June 11th, and is the 2nd of 3 stops on this year’s circuit. It is bookended by the meet in Monaco last weekend and the final meet in Barcelona, Spain.

The French always turn out well for their hosted stop of this circuit, and this year is expected to once again draw most of the National Team, especially those who live domestically.

Agnel is a healthy scratch, as he’s decided to stay with his new American training group at the US Olympic Training Center for altitude training instead.

Lacourt, on the other hand, is battling a sore hip. This is the latest in a growing line of injuries for the European Record holder in the 100 backstroke and the defending 50 backstroke World Champion. Previously, he fought through elbow tendinitis prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics.
