Yankovich Named La Salle Swimming Assistant

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle swimming and diving head coach Jamie Platt is pleased to announce the hiring of Mark Yankovich as an assistant swimming coach.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to bring in Mark and have him join our program,” said head coach Jamie Platt. “He has great experience as a swim coach, and I immediately saw his passion for the sport.”

Yankovich comes to La Salle from the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club, where he has served as an assistant swim coach since September of 2012. He was responsible for  designing season plans and daily practice schedules for roughly 80 swimmers.

Prior to that, the Richboro, Pa. native served as an assistant swim coach at Washington College (Chestertown, Md.) for two years, where he planned and executed the distance group workouts and guided two swimmers to NCAA DIII qualifying times. While at Washington, Yankovich earned a Master’s degree in Psychology.

Yankovich began his collegiate coaching career at Lafayette College, where he spent three seasons designing dryland workouts and swim practices for the Leopards. He led the middle distance swimmers in preparation for the Patriot League Championship while overseeing recruiting visits.

A 2007 graduate of McDaniel College (Westminster, Md.) with a degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education, Yankovich captained the Green Terror’s swim team for two seasons. Yankovich was named Team MVP as a senior in 2007 after earning Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2004.

“Mark is someone that the team and staff will learn a lot from,” added Platt. “We’re lucky to have him join our program.”
