NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Matt Slabe will be the captain of the Yale Men’s Swimming and Diving team for the 2019-2020 season.  The team elected Slabe to succeed senior captain Adrian Lin before its annual banquet on Apr. 17.

A strong long-distance freestyle swimmer, Slabe has made significant contributions to the team as both a racer and a teammate. As the Bulldogs’ 122th captain, Slabe will coordinate practices, manage team logistics, and serve as the main liaison between the team and the Yale University administration. He will help support his teammates in their training and their studies, ensuring that the team provides a positive environment for all of its members.

“There is a great deal of potential for next year’s team,” Slabe remarked. “We have strong incoming first years and a majority of our scored points are returning. Everyone is eager to get to work and push to make a move upwards in the Ivy League.”
