CINCINNATI – Xavier men’s and women’s swimming opened up the Spring schedule by sweeping Bellarmine, winning 17 of 22 events against the Knights, on Senior Day at Heidt Family Champions Center.
Xavier is set to take part in three events next weekend, starting with a trip across town to face Cincinnati on Friday, January 23, set for a 3:00 p.m. start. The Musketeers then head north to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami (Ohio) and Kenyon on Saturday, Jan. 24, set for a 1:00 p.m. start. Xavier will then travel to Fishers, Ind., to take part in the Butler Invite on Sunday, Jan. 25, starting at noon.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Abby Bocian, Jordyn Libler, Norah Simich and Olivia Oyster took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.63.
- Abby Bocian took the top spot in the 1000 free, finishing in a time of 10:43.13.
- Ella Maxfield won the 200 free, finishing in a time of 1:57.22.
- Olivia Oyster placed first in the 50 free, setting a time of 23.58.
- Parker Mandacina set a time of 4:33.55 to take first in the 400 IM. Mandacina also won the 200 breast, setting a time of 2:24.71.
- Norah Simich won the 200 fly, finishing in a time of 2:06.24.
- Maddy Lathrop set the top time by a Musketeer in the 100 free, placing second with a time of 54.87.
- Emma Tenhundfeld set a time of 2:06.53 to place first in the 200 back.
- Teegan Madara set a time of 5:14.65 in the 500 free to take first.
- Norah Simich, Julia Sweetman, Maddy Lathrop and Abbey Fish closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 200 free relay, finishing in 1:39.32.
- Xavier won 10 of 11 events, winning by a score of 150-54 on the women’s side.
