Worlds Qualifier and Argentine Record Holder Ulises Saravia Commits to Tennessee

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Tennessee will add Argentine Ulises Saravia to its 2025 recruiting class.

Saravia arrives in Knoxville as an accomplished international recruit, having already represented Argentina at the 2024 Olympic Games and reached two semifinals in Singapore at the 2025 World Championships.

Saravia finished his campaign in Singapore with an 11th-place finish in the 50 backstroke, clocking 24.68 in the semis (just .15 seconds off of the championship final), and he also qualified for the semis in the 100 back, placing 16th (54.32).

At the 2025 Spanish Championships, Saravia took home a pair of backstroke titles, first in the 100 back in 53.26, and later in the 50 back, setting a new meet record of 24.66, both of which are Argentine Records.

Saravia holds five Argentine records across both short and long course.

Ulises Saravia’s Top Times (with SCY Conversions):

Event Time Converted Time (SCY)
50 Back (SCM) 23.63 21.28
100 back (SCM) 51.67 46.54
200 Back (SCM) 1:55.86 1:44.37
50 Back (LCM) 24.66 21.67
100 Back (LCM) 53.26 46.9

At the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships, the Volunteer men finished 3rd of 11 teams.

With Saravia’s converted times, he would have finished 20th in prelims at last year’s SEC Championships and qualified for the ‘C’ final in the 100 back. His 200 back would have slotted him at 34th.

In comparison to the 2024-2025 Tennessee performers in those events, Saravia would have been the 5th fastest Volunteer in the 100 back, and 6th in the 200 back.

With the addition of Saravia, Tennessee bolsters its recruiting class for 2025, Gabe Nunziata, Mac Clark, Jake McCoy, Ethan Dumesnil, Thomas Ciprick, and Kamal Muhammad.

That converter puts Luca’s NCAA record at 49.3 in LC. Should be put in the trash. Their own real-time converter puts 53.2 at 44.4 in yards

Nah, it’s accurate. He hasn’t learned to do flipturns yet.

Does a semifinal at Worlds convert to 20th place at SEC? Seems off to me
