Doruk Yogurtcuoglu from Ankara, Turkey has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Virginia Tech beginning in fall 2026.

Yogurtcuoglu represents Turkey at the international level and notably represented the country at the 2025 SCM European Championships. There he made semifinals in the 200 breast with a 2:05.24 to finish 12th. He also swam in prelims of the 100 breast with a 59.92.
Last August, Yogurtcuoglu swam at the 2025 World Junior Championships and finished 4th in the 200 breast with a 2:09.97, only 0.05 off his lifetime best. He also swam a 1:02.87 in prelims of the 100 breast.

The Virginia Tech men finished 5th out of 15 teams at the 2026 ACC Championships. Leading the team was Brendan Whitfield as Whitfield swam to an ACC title in the 100 free with a 40.93.
Based on his best times, Yogurtcuoglu is a huge addition to the team’s already strong breaststroke group. His best converted time (SCM) in the 200 breast would have made the ACC ‘A’ final, joining teammate Eli Martin who swam a 1:51.49 for 4th. Oscar Bilbao swam a 1:52.75 in the ‘B’ final for 10th overall. It took a 52.77 in the 100 breast to final.
Yogurtcuoglu will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Alex Parent, Matthew Wolfe, and Alex Grocholski.

He was the 2024 Euro Junior champion and runner-up in 2025. This year he will probably win gold again in Euro Junior. As far as I know, he talked to many colleges. VT is an interesting choice. He probably wanted to train with AJ Pouch and Coll Marti.
