The 2026 Lisbon International took place over the weekend, with the annual competition seeing a multitude of meet records biting the dust over the course of the two-day affair.

Host nation swimmer Diogo Ribeiro was responsible for four records, across the men’s 50m/100m free and 50m/100m fly events.

In the 50m free, the 21-year-old two-time world champion produced a winning effort of 22.02 to grab the gold, beating the field by a decisive margin.

Abduljabar Adama was next to the wall in 22.48 and Oscar Pascual Buldon rounded out the podium in 22.98.

As for Ribeiro, his time easily overtook the former meet mark of 22.43 British ace Lewis Burras established three years ago.

Burras’ record also bit the dust in the 100m free, where Ribeiro clocked a time of 48.36 to top the podium.

Ribeiro opened in 23.18 and closed in 25.18 to knock just under half a second off the Brit’s previous competition benchmark of 48.77, also from 2023.

Goncalo Carlos Azevedo clinched silver in 50.15 and Rio Daodu nabbed 50.70 as the 3rd-place finisher.

In the butterfly discipline, Ribeiro punched a result of 23.25 for yet another gold, erasing the former meet record of 23.75 that Dutchman Sean Niewold logged in 2024.

Adama settled for another silver in 23.66 and Issei Kim bagged the bronze in 24.39.

Finally, Ribeiro’s result of 52.18 found success in the 100m fly, once again relegating Adama to silver in 53.39. Vasco Alves Morgado hit 53.51 to round out the podium.

The former Lisbon Meet mark stood at the 52.79 Jamie Ingram put up in 2023. Ribeiro owns the Portuguese national record in this event, courtesy of the 51.17 he notched in Doha.

Additional Men’s Meet Records

  • Adam Bradley of GBR topped the men’s 100m breaststroke event in a time of 1:02.21. His effort overwrote the former meet mark of 1:02.77 Joshua Inglis established in 2025.
  • The men’s 200m fly saw Morgado touch in a result of 1:58.74 as the sole competitor to clear the 2:00 barrier. He sliced .31 off Miguel Duarte Nascimento‘s Lisbon International record of 1:59.05 from 2017.

Visiting Italian Silvia Di Pietro made her presence known on the women’s side, downing the meet records in both the 50m free and 50m fly races.

In the former, the 32-year-old veteran turned in a time of 24.92 for the victory, dominating the field in the sole outing under 25 seconds.

Skye Carter of Great Britain was next to the wall in 25.74, followed by Emma Jeronimo Conceicao‘s effort of 25.89.

Di Pietro held the former meet mark of 25.13 from the morning prelims in this race, a time which cleared the 25.22 she established at this competition three years ago.

As for the 50m fly, Di Pietro grabbed the gold in a time of 26.08, handily defeating the field by nearly a second.

Zara Alejandra Rojas posted 27.90 as the silver medalist and Maider Redin Pagaldai rounded out the podium in 28.03.

Di Pietro’s time of 26.23 in the morning heats reaped a new meet record, overtaking her own 26.51 from 2023.

Additional Women’s Meet Records

  • Camila Rodrigues Rebelo grabbed the women’s 100m backstroke gold in 1:01.45. That shaved .05 off Rafaela Gomes Azevedo‘s time of 1:01.50 from six years ago.
  • Rebelo also did damage in the 200m back, turning in a time of 2:11.89 to earn gold and erase her own meet record from the 2023 edition.
  • Italy’s Benedetta Pilato was in the water, doubling up with victories in both the 50m and 100m breast. She notched 30.72 in the former and 1:07.05 in the latter, with her 1breast outing establishing a new meet record.
