The University of Cincinnati will welcome Macon Graves to the class of 2020, as the Huntsville Swim Association athlete has made his unofficial college choice. Graves is a rapidly improving breaststroke specialist who this past summer notched his first USA Swimming Junior time:

  • 100 breaststroke: 59.64
  • 200 breaststroke: 2:07.27 (2:26.04 LCM to make Winter Juniors)
  • 200 IM: 1:56.94

Just two years ago, Graves had personal bests of 1:03 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:19 in the 200 breaststroke. Graves was a 6th place finisher at the 2015 Alabama High School Swimming Championship (6A/7A) in the 100 breaststroke. He also finished 8th in the 200 IM for Pope John Paul II High School.

Both Graves 100 and 200 breaststroke would have qualified him for the B-Final at the 2015 AAC Championships, although it’s worth noting that due to the small size of the conference there weren’t enough swimmers to fill the B-Final in either event. Cincinnati had three swimmers in the A-Final of the 200 breaststroke, so Graves will have good competition to look up to when he joins the Bearcats.
