WATCH: 2016 FINA World Cup Highlights From Chartres

As we approach the second cluster of meets in the 2016 World Cup Series, FINA has released a video with highlights from the first stop in Chartres.

In Chartres, we saw Russian rocket Vlad Morozov blast his way to a new 100 IM World Record for the first time. Morozov brought the record down to a time of 50.60, clipping the previous World Record of 50.66 set by Germany’s Markus Diebler at the 2014 SC World Championships.

That wasn’t the only World Record we saw in Chartres, as Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson tied the World Record in the 100 breast for the 2nd time in her career. Atkinson’s 1:02.36 matched the World Record that she already shared with Lithuania’s 2012 Olympic champ Ruta Meilutyte.

Another big headliner, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu, impressed in Chartres with her 7 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze.

The next cluster of meets begins in Beijing this week, as swimmers travel to the National Aquatics Center to race on September 30th and October 1st. FINA will be live streaming the finals only of the event on FINATv, which you can access here. Keep checking in with SwimSwam throughout the meet to get recaps of the action.
