The Vanderbilt University women will add 2 more member to their ranks next season, as Lauren Bergmann and Kaley Buchanan are the latest to give their verbal commitments to the Commodores.
Bergmann is a swimmer for Badger Aquatics Club in Wisconsin, and will make the move to Vandy after graduating from Madison Edgewood High School. Buchanan, on the other hand, swims for Hershey Aquatic Club, and will be graduating from Hershey High School in Pennsylvania.
“I chose Vanderbilt University because of its exceptional academics, the dedicated coaching staff, and the team atmosphere. I am honored to be a Commodore. Anchor Down!”
Bergmann was a 2-time finalist at last season’s Wisconsin Division 2 Girls Championships. There, she won the silver medal in the 100 back with a personal best 56.90. She also swam a best time in the 100 fly, where she clocked a 57.87 to pick up a bronze medal.
Bergmann’s Top Times:
Buchanan was a qualifier for last season’s Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (East), where she swam the 100 fly, 50 free, and 100 free. At the 2016 Pennsylvania AAA State Championships, she was a top 10 swimmer with her 9th place finish in the 100 fly. She was also a 2-time finalist at the 2015 meet, where she picked up a pair of 4th place finishes in the 100 fly and 100 free.
With times of 23.90 in the 50 free and 51.13 in the 100 free, Buchanan may find herself filling a spot on Vandy’s freestyle relays as a freshman. The Commodores just graduated Hannah Martin, and will graduate Kayla Moran at the end of this season. Both were a part of the sprint free relays at the 2016 SEC Championships.
