Utah Swimming and Diving to Compete at Art Adamson Invitational

 

SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah swimming and diving team will head to College Station, Texas to compete in the Art Adamson Invitational. The meet is set to take placeThursday through Saturday. Nov. 19-21 at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium.

The meet will span over the weekend with preliminary session beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m. each night.

Competing Teams

There will be a total of 10 teams competing this week. The Utes will compete against host Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, ASU, LSU, Air Force, Stanford, San Diego State, BSU (women) and Nebraska (divers only).

Last Time Out

Both the men and women’s squad came out on top against UNLV. The men came out with a score of 189.5-104.5 with the women’s score, 179-120.

During the meet, the Utes won 22 of 35 events. Many athletes took first in multiple events. Peter Kotson captured the 1,000 free (9:30.84) as well as the 500 free (4:36.93). Bence Kiraly took first in both the 100 (46.54) and the 200 free (1:40.15).

Daniel McArthur was another swimmer who took first in two events. He captured the 100 back with a time of 50.14 and then swam the 200 IM in 1:53.77.  Adding to the win total for the Utes was Jack Burton, taking first in the 50 breast (25.84) as well as the 100 breast (57.17).

In diving action, Jacob Crayne grabbed the top spot in the one-meter event with a total score of 359.55 with Josiah Purss following (345.53). Crayne also took first in the three-meter event (368.03).

The women started off with a winning performance in the 400 medley relay as Megan Kawaguchi, Genevieve Robertson, Jenna Marsh and Gillian St. John touched the wall in 3:49.47.

Marsh also took home wins in the 100 fly (56.68) and 50 fly (25.32), while Kawaguchi took first in the 100 back with a time of 57.87 and second in the 50 back (27.00).

Brianna Francis put up two wins on the day, topping the rest in the 100 breast (1:04.81) and the 200 IM (2:06.87). Kat Wickham claimed the top spot in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:48.76 while Jordan Anderson took first in the 500 free (5:07.30). Anderson also took second in the 200 free (1:55.09).

Amanda Casillas took first on both the one-meter event with a total score of 284.63 and on the three-meter, 265.58.

The men’s squad will head to Wyoming on Dec. 5. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. MT.

The women’s squad will return to the pool on Jan. 6 when they travel to Oregon State
