UNI Women Cruise Past South Dakota 206-93

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI swim and dive team competed against South Dakota for the second time this season on Saturday and won 206-93. The Panthers won all but one event of the day. Nine Panthers finished with individual wins. 

The Panthers won both relays. The 200 medley relay of Katie TaylorMoriah RossPayton Hall, and Piper Carroll took first with a time of 1:47.05. Sydney SchmidtMoriah RossHelena Heuberger, and Piper Carroll won the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.35).

Katie Taylor won three individual events, the 50 freestyle (24.30), the 200 backstroke (2:00.99), and the 200 IM (2:05.56).

Kylie Engstrom won two individual events, the 200 butterfly (2:14.20) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.71). 

Taylor Hogan won both diving events, with a 254.70 in the one meter dive and 246.67 in the three meter dive. 

Lauren Vilims won the 1000 freestyle (10:50.87), Sydney Schmidt won the 100 freestyle (53.34), Jordan McCullough won the 200 freestyle (1:57.76), and Moriah Ross won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.76).

Helena Heuberger took first (57.15) and Payton Hall took second (58.98) in the 100 backstroke while Mia Savicevic (2:27.20) and Rachel Studer (2:31.77) took first and second in the 200 breaststroke.

Madilyn Sindelar of South Dakota took first in the 100 yard butterfly (58.41), then Sydney Schmidt (58.60), Moriah Ross (58.69), amd Emma Baertlein (1:01.23) got second, third, and fourth.

The Panthers faced the Coyotes in the South Dakota Quad Duals last weekend and won by scores of 160-82 and 155-88.

UNI swept this weeks MVC honors with Jayden Lovell winning MVC Diver of the Week and Sydney Schmidt winning MVC Swimmer of the Week.

The Panthers next meet will be November 22-24 in Topeka for the Kansas Classic.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Madilyn Sindelar swam to an individual victory during South Dakota women’s swimming and diving dual loss (206-93) to Northern Iowa on Saturday.

Sindelar, a sophomore from Rocklin, California, earned her second win of the season in the 100 fly, this time swimming the event in 58.41 seconds.

Five Coyotes posted runner-up individual finishes during the dual as freshman Emily Johnson posted second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:58.52) and 100 free (54.95).

Sabrina Sabadeanu, a senior, placed second in the 200 IM while South Dakota also received individual runner-up finishes from freshmen Taylor Rau (100 breast) and Maria Mattaini (500 free) along with sophomore Jordyn Schnell (50 free).
