DAVIDSON, N.C. – UNCW rolled past host Davidson behind a combined 20 event wins in swimming and diving action on Saturday at Cannon Pool.
UNCW improved to 4-5 on the women’s side while the men ran their record to 2-6.
Sarah Olson and Gil Shaw both won two events apiece. Olson won the 100 and 200 Freestyles while Shaw did the same in the Breaststroke events. Olson also swam on the winning 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Aidan Duffy and Jacob Duracinsky added two wins each for the Seahawk men. Duffy earned first-place finishes in the 200 Breaststroke and the 200 IM. Duracinsky, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week, swept first-place honors in the 100 and 200 Freestyles.
In diving, Courtney Klausen claimed both boards with scores of 305.70 and 310.65 points in the one and three-meter dives, respectively.
UNCW also swept all four relays on the afternoon.
The Seahawks visit nationally-ranked NC State next on Jan. 27.

DAVIDSON — Davidson swimmers and divers wrapped up an intense training camp by stepping back into competition Saturday, and Wildcats head coach John Young saw numerous noteworthy performances against what he called a “championship-caliber” UNCW team in Cannon Pool.
In other words, the home dual was a good test for the Wildcats, who competed as a team for the first time in eight weeks and started their push to championship season.
“From our perspective, it was a fantastic day,” said Young. “The ‘Cats raced hard. We were in a lot of races with a very good team, had some close touches that didn’t go our way and some that did and lots of impressive performances across the board. Overall, it was a great step forward and great information for us as we think about what the rest of the season, from a preparation perspective, will look like for the ‘Cats.”
While UNCW swept the team victories, the Wildcats won eight individual events and were narrowly edged in a few more.
“Kate Pottle continued her hot streak on the women’s side with beautiful swims in the 200 and 500,” said Young. “Shelby Stanley had some great butterfly races, and Cynthia Huang won a really exciting 200 back. On the guys’ side, we got great swims from Andrew Schou in the breaststroke events, Dylan Felt with a gutsy 200 and an exciting 500 where he managed to pull out an invigorating victory for the ‘Cats. And it was a thrilling finish for Jeremy Kemp in the 200 back.”
Pottle and Stanley won two events each, with Pottle swimming out front in the 200 free and 500 free in 1:52.54 and 5:00.08, respectively. Stanley won the 100 fly in 57.20 and the 200 fly in 2:07.19, and Huang swam 2:06.58 to win the 200 back.
For the Wildcat men, Schou tied for first in the 100 breast with a time of 58.15, while Kemp came on to win the 200 back in 1:51.62. Felt won the 500 free in 4:34.11 and made a late push to nearly win the 200.

Next Saturday, Wildcat swimmers will visit William & Mary, while Davidson’s divers will compete at South Carolina.
