UCONN Women Kick Off Recruiting Season with a Verbal Commitment from Club Wolverine’s Alex McPherson

Alex McPherson, a senior at Saline High School, has verbally committed to join the University of Connecticut women’s swimming and diving team for the 2015-16 season. McPherson is primarily a distance freestyler. She finished fifth in the 500 and 12th in the 200 at the 2013 MHSAA Division I Girls Championship and helped Saline to a second-place team finish.

McPherson’s top times include:

1650y free: 17:11.18
1000y free: 10:18.86
500y free: 5:00.80
200y fly: 2:07.09
100y fly: 58.38

McPherson’s 1650 free and 200 fly times would have scored at 2014 AAC Championships, and that is with Louisville taking up a good chunk of the real estate in most finals. With the Cardinals’ move to the ACC there are a lot more scoring opportunities for everyone else, and McPherson could be an impact scorer for the Huskies right off the bat in her freshman year.
