Justin Hussong from Anaheim, California has announced his verbal commitment to University of California, Santa Barbara. A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American at Canyon High School, Hussong swims fly, IM and freestyle. At the 2019 CIF Southern Section Division I Championships in May, he placed 7th in the 100 fly (49.58) and 9th in the 200 IM (1:53.82). He then went on to the California State Meet the following week and improved to 1:51.98 in the IM, which was good enough for a 17th-place finish. He also came in 31st in the fly. Hussong swims year-round with the club team Anaheim Aquatics Association. He is a Winter Nationals qualifier in the 200 fly and a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 fly. This summer he clocked PBs in the LCM 50/100/200 fly and 200/400 IM. He was an A-finalist in the 200 fly at 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals.

Hussong is a nice pickup for the Gauchos. He would have scored in the A final of the 200 fly and the B final of the 100 fly at 2019 MPSF Championships. He would have been a B-finalist in the 400 IM and just on the cusp of the B/C final in the 200 IM. He will overlap with butterflyers Kian Brouwer (47.64/1:51.35), Jolen Griffin (47.95), Zach Shenkin (1:49.80), and Ivan Graham (50.37/1:50.82).
