Tyler Graves of Florida’s Academy Aquatic Club Signs with Carson-Newman

Tyler Graves has signed an NLI to swim with Carson-Newman University beginning in the fall of 2015. Graves is from Riverview, Florida. He attends Spoto High School and swims for Academy Aquatic Club in Tampa.

Graves represented Spoto High School at Florida’s recent FHSAA Class 2A Swimming & Diving Championships. He placed third in the 100 fly (49.85) and second in the 100 breast (57.74). He was the breaststroke leg on Spoto’s medley relay and the anchor on the 400 free relay. His best times are:

100y breast: 57.60
200y breast: 2:07.54
100y fly: 49.85
200y IM: 1:57.33
100y free: 46.95
200y free: 1:42.99

Nearly all of Graves’ times are from this year, and it looks like he is still dropping. His 100y breast, achieved just last weekend, is 1.3 seconds faster than last season, while his 100y fly is six seconds faster. In long course season he dropped 4.2 in the 100m breast and 11.5 seconds in the 200m IM. And the list goes on.

The 2015-16 season will be Carson-Newman’s third. The brand new program has already made huge strides, and with recruits like Graves, should continue to rise in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference standings in the years to come.
