Team White Prevails Over Red As Youngstown State Opens Season With Intrasquad

Youngstown State Red vs White Intrasquad

The Youngstown State men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs hosted an Intrasquad Red vs White Meet at the Beeghly Natatorium on Saturday. The White team was victorious over the Red team, 339 to 254.

Key scorers in the White team’s victory were Miriam Frass who won the 1650 free (17:39.79), 200 free (1:56.92), and 500 free (5:12.68); Aleksa Radenovic who finished first in the 200 fly (1:50.06), 100 fly (49.42), and 200 IM (1:55.93); Gavin Webb who won the 1650 free (16:27.87) and 500 free (4:49.94); Allison Ramirez who came in first in the 200 fly (2:09.11) and 100 fly (58.68); Soma Albert who won the 100 back (50.01) and 200 back (1:49.53); and Kayla Wrasman who finished first in both the women’s 1M (143.20) and 3M (147.45) dives (three dives).

Other event winners for the White squad were Aubrey Whitaker (50 free), Macy Wang (100 IM), Jasper Liekens (100 IM), Gavin Redden (100 free), Jordan Truelsch (100 back), and Summer Raymer (200 IM).

The White team also won the men’s 200 medley relay with Albert, Liekens, Radenovic, and Redden, clocking a 1:34.46. They also finished first in the mixed 400 free relay with a time of 3:26.99. The winning squad was Redden, Darren Laing, Raymer, and Frass.

Multiple individual event winners for the Red squad were James Slessor, who won the 100 breast (57.37) and 200 breast (2:09.98); Brooks Adams, who finished first in both the men’s 1M (121.05) and 3M (134.40) dives (three dives); and Oliwia Kaniak, who won the 100 breast (1:07.96) and 200 breast (2:27.57).

Other event winners for the Red squad were Brenden Reeves (200 free), Anna Kozinska (100 back), Rares Druga (50 free), and Madelyn Mahoney (100 free).

The Red team also won the women’s 200 medley relay with Olivia Wilcox, Kaniak, Kamden Batchik, and Mahoney, clocking a 1:50.44.

The Penguins will begin their season on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, as they head to the Akron Zips Classic.
