Four-time Kansas 6A state champion and 100 back record-holder Kevin Glenn has announced his intention to swim for Florida State in the class of 2025.
Florida’s Tyler Watson won the 400 IM in 3:52.63 ahead of teammate Brennan Gravley (3:53.54). Gravley made a big drop, taking 5 seconds off his former best.
A close call on the girls’ side saw Creekside eke out a 4-point victory over local rival Bartram Trail to become back-to-back champions.
Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield put up the only automatic All-American time of the region 1 cluster (districts 1-3). Stanfield’s 2:00.73 puts her far ahead of the field heading into regionals and is nearly 2 seconds faster than her time from the 2017 state finals (her former lifetime best ahead of district prelims).
Fungairino obliterated the field in the 200 free, finishing over 6 seconds ahead of the field in a speedy 1:34.89. That knocked almost 2.5 seconds off his former best time.
Fort Myers freshman Olivia McMurray has emerged as a major title threat in the 200 IM and 500 free.
In the 200 IM at the district 3 meet, Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield knocked a full second off her best time to win in 2:01.74. That’s almost 3 seconds faster than she went to take 2nd in the event last season and meets the Automatic All-American (AA-A) standard.
Florida’s high school swimming post-season continues, with the state’s bigger schools in classes 3A and 4A holding region meets over the weekend….
