Sunkist Swim Team announces they have given a four-year contract extension to head coach David Orr with the new title of Head Coach/CEO.

Orr has led the storied swim club back to the top of Mississippi Swimming, going from ranked 7th in the LSC when he was hired in 2010 to winning the last 6 state championships.

“Coach David has done an amazing job rebuilding Sunkist and keeping it fun for swimmers and parents in the process. We are enthusiastic to keep rising and shining with our great coach,” stated team president Ashley Herrington.

In his tenure with Sunkist, Orr’s swimmers have achieved 25 national top ten age group times and broken over 200 LSC records. Orr was honored by his Mississippi Swimming peers with the Age Group Coach of the Year award in 2014.

“I deeply appreciate the love and support of our wonderful team. I am excited to continue our journey together,” Orr said. “My focus remains helping our swimmers be all they can be in and out of the water, as well as leading Sunkist to prominence at the national level.”

On the dry side, Orr continues to direct Sunkist’s dream project of a new world-class facility. “I am in passionate pursuit of our new pool and thrilled that we are finding support from community and business leaders. Aside from the many economic development benefits that come with hosting major competitive events, I am proud that we will be providing educational, health and wellness opportunities to deal with important issues such as drowning prevention and fighting obesity.”

Orr’s creative guidance and social media usage has garnished Sunkist with 4 USA Swimming #SwimBiz marketing awards, including back-to-back Marketing Club of the Year honors for 2015 and 2016. Orr currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mississippi Swimming as Age Group Chair and also handles webmaster duties for the LSC.

Orr is scheduled for two talks at the upcoming ASCA World Clinic in Fort Lauderdale.
