Summer Juniors Runner Up Giulian Martin Commits To UNC For 2025

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Giulian Martin of Miami, Florida has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at UNC beginning in the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
“I am happy to announce my commitment to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am looking forward to joining Coach Mark, his staff, and the team. I am thankful for this opportunity.  Thank you to my family, coaches and teammates for supporting me throughout my journey. A special thank you to Coach Liz. Your coaching style, passion for the sport, and the support you have not only given me, but all of your athletes is incredible.  Lucky, are those who get to experience Hurricane Aquatics. I am excited, and looking forward to being a Tar Heel this fall! “

Martin competes for Hurricane Aquatics and most recently swam at Summer Juniors in Irvine. There he swam to a 2nd place finish in the 200 breast touching in a 2:13.74, just off his lifetime best 2:13.01 that he swam at Futures a week before in Ocala. In Irvine, he also was 6th in the 50 breast and posted a lifetime best 1:02.72 in the 100 breast to win the ‘B’ final.

Last December, Martin swam to numerous lifetime bests at Winter Juniors-East. There he swam to a 3rd place finish in the 100 breast with a 53.34. He also was 5th in the 200 breast in a best time 1:55.72. He finaled in the 200 IM finishing 20th and swam a lifetime best 3:55.43 in the 400 IM for 29th.

Martin’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 100 breast: 53.34
  • 200 breast: 1:55.72
  • 200 IM: 1:47.62
  • 400 IM: 3:55.43

The UNC men finished 4th at the 2025 ACC Championships. Ben Delmar led the way with 76 points including a 3rd place finish in the 400 IM (3:41.51). Delmar also lead the team in both breaststroke events this past season (51.44/1:50.51).

Based on his best times, Martin has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. His best time in the 200 breast would already make the ACC ‘C’ final. It took a 53.12 in the 100 breast and a 1:44.70 in the 200 IM to earn a second swim.

Martin will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2029 along with David Melnychuk, Julian Swiderski, Benton Grutter, Sam Huggins, and Granger Bartee. Melnychuk is also from Florida.
