Summer Juniors Qualifier Kaitlyn Holmes (2022) Announces Verbal to Brown

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kaitlyn Holmes from Darien, Connecticut has announced her verbal commitment to the application process* at Brown University.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to swim and study at Brown University!! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and teachers for all of their support throughout the years. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team. GO BRUNO!!🐻❤️”

Holmes swims year-round with Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and specializes mainly in breaststroke and IM. A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, she is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 breast and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 breast. Holmes went best times in both events at the end of 2020, first at the CP-AC November RTC (1000 free and 200 breast) and then at the 18&U Winter Championships in Stuart, Florida. There, she won the 100 breast and was runner-up in the 200 breast. She also placed 3rd in the 200/400 IM, earning PBs in both; 7th in the 500 free; and 9th in the 200 back. In May, she updated her 200/500 free times.

Holmes dropped time in all her LCM events at the CPAC July Senior Invite, including the 50 free, 50/100/200 breast, 200 fly, and 200/400 IM. Two weeks later she improved her new PBs in the 100 breast (1:13.26), 200 breast (2:37.94), 200 IM (2:21.10), and 400 IM (5:00.59) at ISCA Summer Senior Blast.

Top SCY times:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.51
  • 200 breast – 2:16.20
  • 200 IM – 2:03.85
  • 400 IM – 4:22.53
  • 1000 free – 10:34.85
  • 500 free – 5:04.45
  • 200 free – 1:55.15

Holmes’ best times would have helped Brown, who finished 5th of 8 teams, at the 2020 Ivy League Championships where she would have scored in the B finals of the 100/200 breast and 400 IM and the C final of the 200 IM.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
