NEWARK, N.J. – Stony Brook swimming & diving recorded its third consecutive victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Rider 210-90. The Seawolves cruised to victory in Newark off the back of 14 event wins out of a possible 18.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Mykayla Lavery won the 1-meter diving event (234.90).
- The team of Kunzang Sharchitsang, Alanna DePinto, Michelle Vu, and Avari Wischhof won the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.98).
- Meredith Yuhasz finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle event (10:35.31).
- Francesca Baber took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.71).
- Pelagia Chazov secured a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.61).
- Carson Kien won the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.14).
- Natalia Chornomidza won the 3-meter diving event (227.35).
- DePinto picked up a win in the 100-yard freestyle (51.91).
- Wischhof finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.13).
- Chazov placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.42).
- Baber picked up another win in the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.22).

NEWARK, NJ – The Rider University women’s swimming and diving team was defeated Saturday afternoon, falling to Stony Brook, 210-90. The Broncs fall to 2-6, while the Seawolves move to 6-2 on the year.
The Broncs won two events in the meet.
Casey Morgan (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) won the 100-back, stopping the clock at 57.54 for Rider’s first win of the day.
Donja Tripp (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) got the win in the 50-free with a time of 23.91.
NOTES & QUOTES
– Campbell Dopler (Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf) took third on the 1-meter. Dopler and Karyn Creelman (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) finished two-three on the 3-meter.
– Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) was third in the 1,000-free.
– Lea Opdyke (Ocala, FL/West Port) finished third in the 200-free.
– Sonya Mishakova (Bali, Indonesia/Australian Independent School Bali) was third in the 50-free.

NEWARK, NJ – The Rider University men’s swimming and diving team picked up a dual meet win Saturday afternoon, defeating NJIT, 167-132. The Broncs improve to 3-4 on the year, while the Highlanders drop to 0-4 on the season.
Rider won nine events in the meet.
To open the meet on the 1-meter, Stavros Xantheas (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) and Steven Figueroa (Whittier, CA/La Serna) finished one-two with scores of 259.45 and 228.65. The duo later finished one-two on the 3-meter with scores of 270.45 and 233.65.
To open the swimming portion of the meet, Sebastian Canosa (Morristown, NJ/Morristown), Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional), Tivon Benjamin (Palm Bay, FL/St. Anthony’s Secondary School), and Cesar Alvarez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/The Ashton School) swam 1:29.92 in the 200-medley relay to earn the victory.
Dawid Turos (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) won the 200-free, swimming 1:40.63. Turos also won the 100-free, swimming one-two with Alvarez, posting times of 45.84 and 45.97.
The Broncs got a sweep in the 100-breast with Ruddy, Maxwell Connelly (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon), and Matthew Borovik (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) touching the wall at 54.71, 55.70, and 56.92.
Rider finished with another sweep in the 50-free with Alvarez, Ruddy, and James Bugianesi (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), swimming 20.60, 20.71, and 21.21.
Benjamin got the win in the 100-fly with a winning swim of 49.40.
The Broncs closed out the meet with a win in the 400-free relay. Turos, Ruddy, Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa), and Alvarez combined to stop the clock at 3:03.11
NOTES & QUOTES
– Luke Mesco (Mullica Hill, NJ/Mother of Divine Grace) was second in the 1,000-free and the 200-fly. He also swam two-three with Rogowski in the 500-free.
– Riley Rowan (Simpsonville, SC/Clonlara) and Canosa finished two-three in the 100-back.
– Joey Milhomens (Wolcott, CT/Wolcott) and Rowan were two-three in the 200-back.
– Connelly finished second in the 200-breast.

NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT swimming and diving team (0-4) fell to Rider (3-4), 167-132, on Saturday afternoon at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (BWEC).
Yonatan Ahdut set the pool record in the 1,650 free with a time of 15:32.67. He also won the 500 free with a time of 4:33.78.
NJIT swept the top three in the 400 IM, with Borys Endle (4:04.06) winning the event, followed by Pawel Drzymala (4:07.57), and Ahdut (4:09.17).
Endle also won the 200 breast by 0.1 seconds with a time of 2:01.31.
Drzymala claimed the victory in the 200 fly by four seconds with a personal-best time of 1:48.90.
Andrew Cellar swept the backstroke events, winning the 100 back (49.75) and 200 back (1:50.07).

NJIT travels to Lafayette for its final regular season meet on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
