Sprint Freestyle Specialist Lucia McGee Commits To Wheaton College (IL) For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sprint freestyle specialist Lucia McGee has announced her commitment to swim at Wheaton College (IL) beginning in the fall of the 2026.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of a school that focuses on faith and the individual student–with both academics and athletics,” McGee wrote in an email to SwimSwam.

A Wyoming native, McGee is currently in the midst of her senior year at Jackson Hole High School, where she has been a member of the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She also swims year-round with the Jackson Hole Stingray club team.

McGee most recently competed at the Wyoming Swimming Winter Championships in February, where she clocked all of her current lifetime bests. She helped the Stingrays earn bronze in the 400 free relay, clocking 1:00.67 on the leadoff leg, in addition to placing 16th in the 200 free (2:21.33) and 17th in both the 50 (28.01) and 100 (1:01.97) free.

On the high school scene, McGee has made the roster for the 4A conference meet each of the four years of her career. She’s placed as high as 12th individually at the meet, doing so in the 50 free (28.40) this past October.

Over the course of the 2025-26 season, McGee sliced over a second in the 50 free, nearly three seconds in the 100 free, ans\d a whopping eight and a half seconds in the 200 free, a promising sign heading into her college career.

  • 100 Freestyle: 1:00.67
  • 200 Freestyle: 2:21.33

A Division III program, Wheaton College competes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, with the women’s team eeking out a one-point victory over Augustana College at this past season’s conference championships. To earn a second swim at the meet, it took times of 26.27, 58.35, and 2:08.07 in her top events, putting her a bit outside of the cutoffs.

On the team itself, McGee is projected to rank eighth in the 100 free, 10th in the 50 free, and 11th in the 200 free bringing some added depth to the roster as she builds towards conference scoring times.

She’ll have a plethora of training partners once she arrives on campus; the Thunder placed at least three swimmers in the 50 free ‘A’ final and two in the ‘A’ finals of the 100 and 200 free at the 2026 conference meet, and defended their titles in both the 200 and 800 free relays while finishing runner-up in the 400.

McGee is the first publicized commit in Wheaton’s class of 2030.
