South Dakota’s Krysl and Svendson sweep Summit League weekly honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota’s Colin Krysl and Katie Svendson were named The Summit League’s Swimmer of the Week for their performances Jan. 12-18.

MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK        
Colin Krysl, South Dakota

Krysl earned his second career Swimmer of the Week award and first this season after contributing to two Coyotes’ victories over the weekend. The senior captured seven events over the course of a two-day dual versus Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois. Krysl began by winning the 100-yard butterfly in 52.34 seconds, 200-yard IM in 2:00.34, and 400-medley relay on Friday. Returning on Saturday, Krysl took three individual events and one relay. He touched in at 50.48 in the 100-yard fly, 1:55.13 in the 200-yard fly, 4:16 in the 400 IM and 1:36.89 in the 200-yard medley

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Katie Svendson, South Dakota

Svendson collects her first Summit League Swimmer of the Week award of her young career after leading her team to a pair of wins over league competition. The freshman finished first in the four individual events in which she competed. She touched first in the 200 free (1:59.32), 500 free twice (5:20.15, 5:17.09) and the 1000 yard free (10:56.87). She was also a key ingredient in third-place finish in the 400 medley relay.

ELMHURST, Ill. – IUPUI’s Cody Watts and South Dakota’s Greysen Hertting were named as The Summit League’s Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week for their performances Jan. 12-18.

MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Cody Watts, IUPUI

Watts claims his fourth Diver of the Week award of the season and fifth of his career in a dual meet win versus Wis.-Green Bay on Jan. 15. His three-meter score of 346.80 is a new league high this season and won the event, helping the Jaguars narrowly defeat Wis.-Green Bay by a score of 152.50-147.50. His six-dive combined score of 346.80 is more than 14 points higher than the second place total in The Summit League this season.

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Greysen Hertting, South Dakota

Hertting earns Summit League Diver of the Week honors for the 18th time in her career and eighth time this season. The South Dakota sophomore collected four wins over a two-day double dual versus Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois. Friday, she notched a new school record of 301.50 in the three-meter dive and added a score of 265.13 in the one-meter. Saturday she repeated her wins in both dives, taking the three-meter in 264.98 and the one-meter in 277.51.
