SEATTLE – Seattle U men’s and women’s swimming completed their first home meet of the season, splitting with Simon Fraser Saturday afternoon in the Redhawk Center. Several new pool records and a new program record were set on the day as the Redhawks cut the ribbon on their renovated home.

“Today was a great day in the pool for us,” said coach Joe Dykstra. “There was some great swimming for so early in the season, highlighted by 1 new school record, and 3 new pool records. We had lots of personal bests which is incredible coming off such a tough block of training like we have. Good things are definitely in store as the season progresses.”

The new school record came from Danielis Kvederis in the 100 Back, where the freshman finished with a time of 48.66. He also finished first in the 200 Backstroke (1:48.38) and the 100 Butterfly (50.20).

Nicholas Imig and Keanu Lee both set new individual pool records, with Imig finishing with a time of 20.32 in the 50 Free and Lee with a time of 1:48.51 in the 200 Fly. The relay team of Kvederis, Cole LantingMichael Luna, and Imig also set a pool record in the 400 Freestyle, finishing at a time of 3:02.22.

Sarah Cook and Brendan Ryan also had big performances, joining Kvederis as Redhawks to win three individual races. Cook won the 100 Breast (1:04.74), 200 Breast (2:19.96), and 200 IM (2:08.85). Ryan won the same races on the men’s side with finishes of 56.38 in the 100 Breast , 2:02.27 in the 200 Breast, and 1:52.93 in the 200 IM.

In the final score count, the women dropped the meet with a score of 113 to 144, while the men won by a score of 166 to 96.

The women’s team will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they host Idaho at the Redhawk Center. The men won’t be back in the pool until the UNLV Invitational, which starts on Sunday, Dec. 17.
