16 year old Shareef Elaydi moved up the all-time ranks in the 15-16 boys 200 IM as he swam a 1:43.82. That makes him the #6 performer in the age group all-time. Elaydi’s previous best time of a 1:44.79 from this meet a year ago had made him the #12 performer all-time before today.

Also joining the all-time ranks were 2nd and 3rd place finishers Ty Thomas and Jackson Hartzler. Hartzler’s previous best time of a 1:47.33 had made him the #73 performer all-time before he moved up the ranks. Thomas entered today with a best time of a 1:49.05 that sat outside of the top 100 age group performers all-time.

The three battled it out tonight as Thomas touched first at the end of the fly and backstroke legs while Hartzler was 2nd for the front half of the race as well. Elaydi surged on the breaststroke leg to overtake the lead while Hartzler passed Thomas with a 50 to go. Coming home on the free leg, Thomas was able to pass Hartzler for 2nd.
