Seven-time New York high school state champion Lola Frey has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Northeastern University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Northeastern University. I am grateful to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me throughout this journey. I would also like to thank Coach Roy and Coach Bryce for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to be part of this team!! Go Huskies!
A junior at Hackley School, Frey began has competed for the school’s swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She also currently trains year-round with Empire Swimming, where she primarily specializes in sprint freestyle.
Frey had the best meet of her career at the NC TEAM Sun Kissed Championships in February 2025, where she posted current bests in her top events. She earned silver in the 100 free (50.81) and 200 free (1:50.69), along with bronze in the 50 free (23.35). She also helped Empire Swimming to top-three finishes in four relay events, including the 200 free relay (2nd, 23.28 leadoff), 400 free relay (2nd, 50.59 anchor), 200 medley relay (3rd, 25.38 fly split), and 400 medley relay (3rd, 51.71 anchor).
Over the course of her high school career, Frey has racked up a whopping seven state titles at New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletic Association (NYSAISAA) Championships, and still has another season to go.

A Division I program, Northeastern competes in the Coastal Athletic Association, with the women’s team placing fourth out of eight teams at this past season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the meet, Frey’s lifetime bests would have qualified for the ‘A’ final in the 200 free and ‘B’ finals of the 50/100 free, setting her up to be a key contributor right from the start.
Frey joins Myra Li and Kayra Patan in committing to the Huskies’ class of 2031.
