SEC Finalist Evan Bailey Of Texas Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Texas freshman Evan Bailey has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Bailey arrived at Texas this spring from Ireland and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Bailey competed in four meets for the Longhorns this season. He had a strong showing at the SEC Championships where he went lifetime bests in all of his events. Bailey scored a total of 32 individual points making him the 17th highest scorer.

His highest finish came in the 500 free as he swam a 4:14.94 for 10th. He also was 12th in the 200 free in a 1:32.80 and 27th in the 100 free (43.00).  Bailey joins Alexey Glivinsky who also entered the transfer portal from Texas this week. Glivinsky arrived with Bailey for the spring semester. Glivinsky scored 21 individual points at SECs but qualified for NCAAs.

Bailey most recently competed at the Irish Open where he swam a 48.94 in the long course meters 100 free for a lifetime best and a win in the process. He also swam to a win in the 200 free with a 1:47.81. He has a lifetime best 1:46.66 in the 200 free, a time that sits as co-national record holder for Ireland.

In addition to Bailey and Glivinsky, David Johnston entered the portal when it first opened. Johnston has announced his transfer to Florida. Texas will welcome transfer Luka Mladenovic from Michigan. Mladenovic was an NCAA ‘A’ finalist in both breaststroke events.

I think he’s staying in the state of Texas and could fit in well at SMU 👀

This guy could legit win the 200 free at NCAAs (1:41 scm is real), and now I’m hoping he does. I have less sympathy for the other guy who dropped his existing commitment to go to Texas.

Contrast Bowman’s actions with Eddie’s over the years.Texas MSD sadly unrecognizable.

It’s insane that Texas cut two 1:32 200 freestylers

Horrific, really. Your first year at Texas is basically an audition for another year on the roster.

Bowman has always been a mercenary to an extent – it drove him away from Michigan when administrators were tweaked his highest focus was not the NCAA program, he was handed everything asked for at ASU but saw greener grass in Austin, then transplanted his entire pro group to a different state just 2 months before Olympic Trials – but this is next level.

Mercenary goes to 11 at Texas. Enjoy the show, if that’s your thing.

Reminds me of DeSorbo dropping half the men’s team before this past season, well because he didn’t develop them.
