In team battles that are expected to be as contentious as the SEC Championships, every swimmer in every A, B, or this year C final can have a huge impact on a team’s overall finish. With that in mind, let’s take a look at who ended up where after day 2′s prelims. For the sake of time, we’ll focus on the teams expected to be contending for top 3 finishes at this meet.

For those unfamiliar with the terminology: “Up” means a swimmer who is in the A-final, as those swimmers cannot fall lower than 8th barring a DQ. “Mid,” new for this year, is what we’ll call teams in the “B” final, who are bound from 9th-16thplaces. “Down” will mean C-finalists, who are between 17th-24th place. Keep in mind only the A-final in diving is fought-out.

Diving today will be the men’s platform competition; we’ll update the tables after its completion. The women’s tables are final. Neither table includes diving.

The Florida and Georgia men each will have 6 A-Finalists tonight. Added with the Georgia milers, Auburn will need their divers to be big to hang on to 2nd place in the men’s battle. On the women’s side, Georgia has effectively sealed their championship by having the most A-finalists, and most total scorers, in tonight’s session. Florida and A&M could get very interesting for 2nd, though. Florida’s got a few more A-finalists, whereas A&M has more total finalists plus a lead coming into the session.

Team standings, followed by Up/Mid/Down tables not including men’s platform diving.
