Saint Louis Billikens beat Bellarmine, William Jewell and Maryville in busy weekend

ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis swimming and diving competed well against Bellarmine, Maryville and William Jewell on Jan. 9 and 10. On Jan. 9, SLU men defeated Bellarmine 172-41 and William Jewell 147-67, while the women topped Bellarmine 178-40, Maryville 197-22 and William Jewell 154-64. On Jan. 10, the Billiken men topped Bellarmine 159-50 and William Jewell 132-82 while the women topped Bellarmine 178-34 and William Jewell 145-67.

On day one, Abbey King was the top performer for the women. She won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.12 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.79. On the men’s side, Dustin Anderson won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.06 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time 47.80.

On day two, the women relied on the trio of King, JaLynn Gieseke and Morgan Peterson. King won the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.90) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:52.32). Gieseke won the 50-yard freestyle (25.50) and 100-yard freestyle (55.87). Peterson won the 200-yard IM  (2:14.19) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.35). For the men, Zack Billingsley was the top performer,  winning the 50-yard freestyle (21.15) and 100-yard freestyle (46.87).

Next up for the Bills is a road meeting against Truman State on Jan. 16. The event is set to begin at 5:30 in Kirksville, Mo.
