Israeli National Champion Shir Wasserman Signs With Marshall

Shir Wasserman, a member of the Israeli National Team and an Israeli National Champion, has signed with Marshall University. She will join the team in the fall of 2014.

Wasserman is primarily a butterflier and was the Israel National Champion in the 200 fly in 2013. Her long course best times are 1:03.02 and 2:18.15, respectively, though neither of those has been done since 2010.

Those times convert to roughly 55.5 and 2:01.9, respectively, in yards: both of which would put her as the fastest swimmer for Marshall so far this season and among the top 10 in Conference USA.

“Adding Shir to an already strong recruiting class is very exciting,” Marshall head coach Bill Tramel said. “Shir will be an immediate impact swimmer in multiple events in Conference USA. I coached Shir’s teammate, Nadav Kochavi, at the University of Minnesota. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with another talented Israeli athlete of similar work ethic and first class character.”
