In the finals of the 500 freestyle from Indianapolis, Rylee Erisman charged to a massive lifetime best in 4:34.60 to take the event win. Earlier today, Erisman dropped three and a half seconds off of her former top time to earn the top seed for the final in 4:39.77. Totaling an 8.75-second drop in the event on the day.
Splits:
| Distance | Time |
| 50 | 24.83 |
| 100 | 27.40 (52.23) |
| 150 | 27.60 (1:19.83) |
| 200 | 27.89 (1:47.72) |
| 250 | 28.01 (2:15.73) |
| 300 | 28.12 (2:43.85) |
| 350 | 27.84 (3:11.69) |
| 400 | 27.85 (3:39.54) |
| 450 | 27.93 (4:07.47) |
| 500 | 27.13 (4:34.60) |
Erisman got out of the gates slower than she was this morning, with her first 100 coming in at 52.23 compared to her prelims 51.65. She was still slower than her morning swim by the 200 mark, turning just under a tenth slower than her morning 200 (1:47.65).
From there, Erisman, the Cal commit, turned up the pace, just narrowly going over 28 twice, compared to her morning swim that saw 28-low to 28-mid for the remainder of the race.
The swim now ranks 8th fastest in the 15-16 age group for the event.
Erisman’s freestyle range from the 50 free to the 500 free is very impressive. Her 500 time from this race would have placed 6th at the 2025 Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships last season, and put her just seven tenths off of 2nd. Her fastest 50 free time of 21.61 would have placed 5th at that meet as well.
The runner-up in the event was 15-year-old Brinkleigh Hansen of Saint Petersburg Aquatics in 4:38.51. This time also marks her fastest ever performance by over four and a half seconds from her best time that she set in the prelims in 4:43.03. The swim moves her up to the 18th-fastest 15-16 performer of all time.

| 350 | 28.56 (3:13.85) |
| 400 | 28.59 (3:43.44) |

This girl has some serious depth
She’ll get to swim individual 100-200 free in 2028 LA and medal in either or both.
21.6 to 4:34 range is kind of crazy
she is sorta the inverse of sims on strengths and range; bella was 22 low and 428 by the time she was getting ready to enter college , but she started out as a mid d star rather than sprinter.
(i dont expect erisman to be a 500 freestyler, but 434 is a real scoring time, but her potential is much higher in the 50/100/200 although that is a much more insane landscape in NCAA then it was even last season)
Said this on the prelims post but I feel like this is geat for USA swimming.
They badly need someone in the 100 / 200 + Backstroke or Fly mold like MOC and some of the other Aussies.
I feel like Rylee is showing that kind of a range.
But we already have Douglass who can do 50/100 + IM + Breastroke 😏😉
