Ryan Murphy rips a 25 Butterfly at the end of workout

Future Cal Bear, Ryan Murphy went to Indianapolis in March to watch Men’s NCAAs. He happened to be working out in between sessions and after trying to keep up with him in the pool for about a 100, I decided I’d rather get some footage of what this National Age Group record holder is capable of in the practice pool.

Butterfly is probably his third best stroke but with this kind of speed, don’t be surprised if Dave Durden uses him in some butterfly races next season.

This summer Ryan has some pretty big goals according to this must see interview with his coach, Sergio Lopez.

Did they announce that all HS swimmers to come down and do a work out? I know a bunch that were there that never got that chance and even though they aren’t Ryan Murphy they take their swimming just as serious.

Yeah, I just had him at :10.01 on the watch. Don’t get me wrong, his stroke looked good and the kid is certainly talented. I am questioning Garrett’s trigger finger.

Good luck to Ryan!

Dang I think it impressive that he can rip a twenty five butterfly that super duper fast. I am predicting a 50.69 in the 100 long course buttfly at this meet at te North Carolina ultra ultra swim! Probally going to do it from a push too I wouldn’t be surprised. Very impressive i wonder what he could rip in a 25 backstroke from a dive? Probally somewhere around 8.97 seconds short course. I actually wonder how fast his 25 breastroke is as well. I bet he could rip a mean pullout . I think he could be a serious competitor in the breastroke if he trained for it.

50.69? that’s faster than michael phelps won the ’11 worlds or ’12 Olympics in

no way a high school kid becomes the 3rd fastest ever in the event at his second worst stroke
