Oregon 4A State Champ Ben Settle Commits to Air Force

Oregon-Based Ben Settle is set to be a Falcon in the NCAA, as he’s given his commitment to join the Air Force men next fall. Settle is a native of Beaverton, Oregon, where he’s currently a senior at Valley Catholic High School. His club training base is with the Tualatin Hills Swim Club under head coach Franz Resseguie.

Settle is a 2-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He’s qualified to compete at high-level meets such as Speedo Winter Junior Nationals and U.S. Winter Nationals in the 100 back. Settle is currently an Oregon 4A defending state champion, having won the 500 free at the state meet last season and finished as the runner-up in the 100 back.

“I chose Air Force because I loved the team atmosphere and the coaching staff. I was impressed with the campus and I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve my country.”

Settle’s Top Times:

  • 200 free- 1:44.26
  • 500 free- 4:40.59
  • 100 back- 51.82
  • 200 back- 1:51.08

At Air Force, Settle will be representing the Falcons in the Mountain West Conference. He should have an immediate impact for the team at the conference meet, as he’s already fast enough to score in the 200 back. Additionally, his 100 back is just a few tenths from scoring range.
