Arizona State continues to drum up big interest in their program with Bob Bowman and Misty Hyman at the coaching reigns, and they’ve now landed Fast Lane Aquatics freestyler Kendall Dawson. Dawson had a spectacular summer, earning an Olympic Trials cut in the 400 free and finishing 2nd overall at the NCSA Summer Juniors meet in Indianapolis.

Dawson’s Top Times

  • 100 free – 51.98/57.77
  • 200 free – 1:49.12/2:03.43
  • 500/400 free –  4:50.90/4:17.30
  • 400 IM – 4:22.36

At last season’s Florida 1A HS Champs, Dawson had two A final appearances, touching 4th in the 200 free and then 3rd in the 500. She turned around right after that 500 to split a 23.90 on Montverde High School’s 2nd place 200 free relay and split a 51.72 on their 3rd place 400 free relay.

ASU had zero A finalists in the 200 or 500 frees at Pac 12s last year, though they have a good group of mid-distance freestylers led by junior Kat Simonovic. Dawson would’ve been a C finalist in both of those events, and would’ve been hundredths off of making the B final in the 500, which looks like it might be her best event after the success she had in the 400 free this summer.

Dawson also would’ve been a B finalist in the 400 IM at Pac 12s last year in an event in which they had a sole finalist, Anna Olasz, who made it back in the C final.

In addition to Dawson, ASU has gotten verbal commitments from the following:
