Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Cullen Jones is moving on to a new job.

After spending five years working for Speedo, Jones announced in a post on LinkedIn that he has accepted a new job as Associate Director of Athlete Marketing for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

“My goal has always been about helping the next generation of athletes, supporting them as they build their brands, pursue their Olympic dreams, and prepare for life beyond competition,” Jones said in the LinkedIn post.

“I’m thrilled to now be part of that process across all 60 Olympic and Paralympic sports, serving as a bridge, mentor, and advocate for athletes on their journey. The Olympic movement has shaped my life, and I can’t wait to give back in this new role. Here’s to MilanoCortina26, LA28 and Beyond!”

Jones will serve as the USOPC’s lead for the athlete and athlete agent community in terms of leading outreach and communication around marketing deals and opportunities related to athletes’ Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL).

Jones is a four-time Olympic medalist, winning a gold medal during the 2008 Games in Beijing, and then compiling one gold and two silvers at the 2012 Games in London.

In Beijing, Jones swam the third leg on the U.S. men’s 4×100 freestyle relay team that won gold and broke the world record in a time of 3:08.24, a mark that still stands today. Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale and Jason Lezak were the other team members.

Jones became the first Black American to hold a swimming world record in 2006 when he was a part of a 4×100 free relay team that set a then world record time of 3:12.46. Phelps, Lezak and Neil Walker were the other team members. The quartet also won a gold medal in the same event at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne.

In London, Jones won an individual silver medal in the men’s 50 freestyle (21.54), finishing behind Frenchman Florent Manaudou (21.34). He also won gold as a preliminary member of the U.S. men’s 4×100 medley relay, and a silver as a member of the men’s 4×100 free relay.

Jones is also the founding ambassador of the Make A Splash initiative, which launched in 2007 and provides free swimming lessons to children from disadvantaged communities.
