After moving to 36th all-time in the short course 100 back for the girls’ 13-14 age group back in April, Lillie Dirito made moves up this season’s national long course rankings at the NBAC Mid Summer Classic.
The 13-year-old Dirito clocked a personal best time of 1:03.85 in the 100 back, moving to 5th this season in the girls’ 13-14 age group in that event.
She topped her previous personal best by two-one-hundreths (1:03.87), set on June 27.
It was one of the six personal bests Dirito had at the meet. In the 200 IM, Dirito set a personal best time of 2:20.65, moving her to 9th this season in the girls’ 13-14 age group.
Dirito also had personal best times in the 50 free (27.32), 100 free (58.72), 200 free (2:07.69) and 400 IM (5:07.81).
Other individual standouts at the meet were:
- In the boys’ competition, 14-year-old Jude Burkhart moved up to 4th this season in the boys 13-14 age group in both the 200 IM and 1,500 free, producing personal best times in each event. Burkhart clocked a time of 2:08.76 in the 200 IM, which was nearly three seconds ahead of his previous personal best (2:11.25) and put him 40th all-time in the boys’ 13-14 age group.. In the 1,500 free, his time of 16:21.24 was more than three seconds ahead of his old personal best (16:24.76).
- Philip Scharper, an 11-year-old, swam personal best times in the 50 back (33.50), 100 back (1:11.38), 100 fly (1:09.98) and 100 free (1:02.95). In his age group, he won the 50 back, 100 back, 200 free (2:15.05) and 200 IM (2:32.48), was 2nd int he 100 fly and 3rd in the 100 free.
- On the girls’ side, 14-year-old Willa Kulp won the 400 free (4:33.04), 800 free (9:14.90), 100 fly (2:18.69) and 400 IM (4:57.06), while clocking a personal best time of 2:07.85 to take 2nd in the 200 free.
