Oklahoma Christian Scores 2nd Verbal: Daniel Rutledge of Grapevine Mustangs

The inaugural men’s swimming and diving team at Oklahoma Christian University has secured another verbal commitment to its class of 2021: Daniel Rutledge of Grapevine High School and Mid-Cities Arlington Swimming in North Texas. Rutledge cited “OC’s stellar leadership and authentic community as compelling factors in the decision,” adding:

“I have great confidence in the opportunities for personal growth and excellence at Oklahoma Christian. What an incredible privilege to swim under Coach Davis and be a part of what God’s doing at OC.”

Rutledge is a four-year letterman and AP scholar at Grapevine. During his junior season he was a four-time finalist at the 2016 UIL 5A State Championship in the 200/500, and the 200/400 free relays. The previous year he placed fourth in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 fly at the 2015 TAPPS DII State Championship.

His top SCY times include:

  • 50 free – 22.84
  • 100 free – 48.66
  • 200 free – 1:44.88
  • 500 free – 4:45.47
  • 100 fly – 54.04
  • 200 IM – 2:01.06

Rutledge will join Arkansas’ Brittan Butler on the Eagles’ inaugural men’s swimming and diving team.
