Ohio State Set To Host Pitt For Senior Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team (1-2) and men’s swimming and diving team (2-1) return home for senior day against Pitt at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Ceremonies honoring the Buckeye seniors will begin at 10:20 a.m.

The Buckeyes’ previous competition was the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown. Ohio State did not compete in Saturday’s final session due to winter weather and was in third through Friday with a combined 593 points, finishing behind Texas (791) and Louisville (666).

Meet & Parking Info

  • Saturday’s meet begins at 11 a.m. and will be streamed live on B1G+.
  • Senior day recognitions will begin at 10:20 a.m.
  • Fans can find parking in the Tuttle or Neil Ave. garages and can pay-by-foot at the machines.

Men’s Meet Notes

  • Ohio State posted a dominant 181-114 win over Pitt in last season’s meeting.
  • At the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown, the Buckeyes turned in multiple NCAA standard times.
  • Matt Klinge was the winner of the 50 fly, touching at 20.38.
  • Tristan Jankovics finished third in the 400 IM with an NCAA standard time of 3:44.39.
  • Hamish Patel placed fourth on the 3-meter with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 359.45. Ernest Braitenbach (329.15) and Matthew Yuan (326.15) also had NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
  • Jordi Vilchez placed third in the 500 free, finishing with an NCAA standard time of 4:17.23.
  • Cornelius Jahn turned in a time of 46.35 to finish fourth in the 100 back.
  • Tomas Navikonis was the third-place finisher in the 200 free with a time of 1:35.08.
  • Klinge earned his second win of the day, taking first place in the 100 fly with an NCAA standard time of 45.12.
  • The 200 free relay team (1:17.80), 200 medley relay team (1:24.95) and the 400 free relay team (2:53.77) all finished in fourth place.
  • Klinge was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week following his performance at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown.

Women’s Meet Notes

  • In last season’s meeting, the women defeated the Panthers, who are currently ranked No. 25, 161.5-131.5.
  • The 200 free relay team of Rachel Bockrath, Erin Little, Carrie Furbee and Taya Hutchison placed third with a time of 1:28.92.
  • In the 50 breast, Maria Ramos finished with a time of 26.83 to place second. Danika Varda placed fourth, touching at 28.74.
  • Paige Delma took second place in the 400 IM with an NCAA standard time of 4:10.12. Sienna Angove placed fifth with a time of 4:12.49, which is also an NCAA standard time.
  • KK LeBlanc won the B final of the 50 back with a time of 24.74.
  • In the 400 medley relay, the team of LeBlanc, Ramos, Furbee and Bockrath placed third with a time of 3:31.34, which is an NCAA provisional time.
  • Michelle Mazzara (283.95) and Lena Hentschel (274.35) placed third and fourth, respectively, on the 1-meter. Both scores are NCAA Zones qualifying scores. Mia Prusiecki placed sixth with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 271.85.
  • On the 3-meter board, the Buckeyes placed 3-4-5. Hentschel (303.20) placed third, Mazzara (301.40) placed fourth and Prusiecki (301.05) placed fifth. All three are NCAA Zones qualifiers.
  • Bockrath set a program record in the 200 free touching at 1:42.92, an NCAA standard time. She broke the previous record of 1:42.94 set by Amy Fulmer in 2023.
  • Little placed fourth in the 200 free with an NCAA standard time of 1:44.00.
  • Ramos earned a second-place finish in the 100 breast with an NCAA standard time of 58.90.
  • In the 500 free, Mila Nikanorov placed second, turning in an NCAA standard time of 4:37.93. Emma Finlin also swam an NCAA standard time, placing fifth after finishing in 4:43.38.
  • Bockrath finished third in the 100 free with an NCAA standard time of 47.27. Little finished fifth with a time of 48.37, which is also an NCAA standard time.
  • The Buckeyes placed third in the 400 free relay with the team of Little, Bockrath, Furbee and Angove finishing in 3:15.50.
  • Following her performances, Bockrath earned Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors.
