Oakland Swim and Dive to dual Ohio and Youngstown State

The Oakland swimming and diving team opens the home portion of the 2014-15 schedule this weekend with a pair of meets at the Oakland Aquatics Center. The Golden Grizzlies will hold a women’s double dual Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. with Ohio and Youngstown State before both Oakland teams host Wayne State Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.

Live results will be available at the start of both meets.

Prior to Saturday’s meet with Wayne State, the 2014 Horizon League championship teams will be recognized with a ring ceremony for both squads.

Oakland Notes: Aleksander Danielewski was named the Horizon League men’s swimmer of the week on Tuesday, marking his second weekly honor of the season. Danielewski was a three-time winner at Oakland’s double dual with Northwestern and UIC Oct. 25.

For the women, diver Tricia Grant is undefeated in six events and already has reached the NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks. Takara Martin, Oakland’s record-holder in the 100 breaststroke, is also unbeaten after three races in that event to go with a pair of 200 breaststroke wins this season.

Coming Up: Oakland will host the Eastern Michigan men’s and women’s teams along with Bowling Green’s women’s squad Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
