ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland completed their first official dual meet of the fall season going head to head with the RedHawks of Miami (OH) resulting in a split with a men’s team win totaling 179 points and the women tallied 108 points, respectively.
Prior to the competition tonight, the Golden Grizzlies were honored with their Horizon League Championship rings for the 2023 season where they claimed their 10th consecutive conference title.

OAKLAND, Mich. —The Miami University swimming and diving team traveled to Oakland University, where they split in competition on Friday, Oct. 6. The RedHawks’ men’s team fell 179-119, while the women’s team won 192-108.
How It Happened:
- The meet kicked off with the 200 medley relay, where the women’s A relay finished first and the men’s A relay finished third. Madeline Padavic, Emma Schueler, McKenzie Reid and Natalie Gilson turned in a combined time of 1:43.96 for the women, while the men’s team of Owen Blazer, Adrian Dulay, Henju Duvenhage and Ian Rodrigues earned a combined time of 1:32.45.
- In the women’s 1000 freestyle, Audrey Conley came in first with a time of 10:32.70. In the men’s 1000 freestyle, Tommy Frye placed second with a time of 9:58.58, with Yonatan Rosin following behind in third (10:01.46).
- Greta Kolbeck finished first in the women’s 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.58 and Julia Waechter took third place (1:54.32). Bryce Menchhofer finished in second for the men’s team (1:42.16).
- In the 100 backstroke the women’s team finished with the top four times which included Padavic (56.07), Chrisna Bezuidenhout (57.19), Ella Ziegert (57.69) and Jenna Halliday (57.84). Blazer claimed second place (50.36) in the men’s 100 backstroke.
- Kaylin Herbet took first place in the women’s 100 yard breaststroke after putting up a time of 1:04.74. Following closely behind was Schueler who placed in third (1:06.52) and Sara Lahrach-Sanchez who took fourth (1:06.97). For the men, Dulay finished in third place with a time of 57.94.
- Miami finished in first place for both the men and women’s 200 butterfly. Nicole Maier claimed a time of 2:02.52 and Allen Cotton finished in 1:48.95.
- The 50 freestyle had a first and third place finish from the women’s teams. Gilson earned a time of 23.93 for the women, while Honor Brodie-Foy turned in a time of 24.44. Duvenhage had the highest finish as he took fourth place for the men (21.21).
- In the 100 Freestyle, Gilson secured second place (51.71) and Waechter followed right behind in third place (52.20). Rodrigues led all of the men’s team with a second-place finish (45.93).
- In the 200 backstroke, Bezuidenhout of the women’s team took first with a time of 2:02.77 and Zach Bann claimed second place for the men (1:52.22).
- The women’s team had the three top finishers in the 200 breaststroke. This included Larach-Sanchez (2:27.56), Caitlyn Groff (2:27.67) and Kenadie Glasgow (2:28.12). Dulay was the highest finish for the men’s team with a time of 2:07.44.
- Kolbeck came in first for the women’s team in the 500 freestyle, picking up a time of 4:57.27. For the men’s team, Menchhofer came in second with a time of 4:44.03.
- For the men’s 100 butterfly, Duvenhage took first with a time of 49.61. Erin Szczupakiewicz‘s second place finish was the highest for the women’s team with a time of 56.38.
- Maier placed first in the women’s 200 IM with a time of 2:03.89 and Herbet finished right behind in second (2:05.35). For the men’s event, Cotton led all athletes with a first place finish (1:51.63)
- Swimming events concluded with the 400 freestyle relay. The men’s A relay team of Rodrigues, Duvenhage, Mason Miller and Tegan Barrier placed second with a combined time of 3:04.43. The women’s A relay team placed first, with Gilson, Jenna Halliday, Kolbeck and Maier picking up a combined time of 3:26.88.
- For diving events, Jackson Miller took first in both the 3 meter dive (289.73) and 1 meter dive (258.53). Victor Hearn came in just behind Miller in both events, finishing second in the 3 meter dive (245.85) and third in the 1 meter dive (216.98). In the women’s events, Mia Meinhardt took second in the 1 meter dive (232.43) and Gretchen Osmun earned third in the 3 meter dive (230.10).
