Brian Benzing, a senior at OIS International School and OI Svømming in Norway, has committed to cross the pond and swim for Towson University in the fall of 2020. A breaststroker and sprint freestyler, Benzing lived in Columbia, Maryland until his sophomore year of high school when his dad’s job moved his family to Norway.

At the 2019 Swim Open Stockholm, Benzing took 18th place in the 50 LCM breaststroke (29.44) and 22nd in the 100 LCM breaststroke (1:05.34). In July at the 2019 Norwegian Championships, he took 6th in the 100 LCM freestyle (52.91) and 8th 50 LCM breaststroke (29.43).

With his converted times, Benzing would have had the 3rd fastest time on the Tigers’ 200-yard free relay at the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Championship meet and is .08 seconds off of what the Tiger’s breaststroker went on the 400-yard medley relay. Benzing is the first confirmed commitment for Towson’s class of 2024.
