Northern Arizona decisively took the WAC women’s team title, winning by nearly 200 points, while Grand Canyon took the men’s meet by 70. Northern Arizona won 4 individual events on the last night of competition, while GCU won 2.

Mark Nikolaev won his 3rd individual event of the meet, clocking a season best 1:41.29 in the men’s 200 back. The time sets up the primarily 100 backstroker well for NCAAs, although he’ll have to go a little faster if he wants to score there. Teammate Daniil Antipov won his 3rd individual event of the meet as well, clocking a 1:42.55 to win the men’s 200 fly. Unfortunately for Antipov, that time looks like it will be just ever so slightly off what it will take to get an invite to the NCAAs in a few weeks.

Northern Arizona senior Monique King won the women’s 1650 decisively, posting a 16:28.72 to beat the field by 19 seconds. Sophomore teammate Elisa Rodriguez won the women’s 100 free, posting a speedy 48.90 to be the only swimmer in the field under 49. Hope Williams, another NAU sophomore, swam a 2:14.53 to win the 200 breast, thanks to a fast back half. NAU Junior Kate Bier rounded out the NAU winners tonight with a 1:59.75 200 fly, winning by roughly 1.5 seconds.

Alix Knagg of New Mexico State swam a 1:57.88 to claim a decisive victory in the women’s 200 back, getting her hand on the wall first by 2 seconds. Cal Baptist’s Eric Tolman broke the WAC record in the men’s 200 breast, posting a 1:54.28 to shatter the previous record of 1:56.15. Additionally, Tolman’s time ties our estimated NCAA invite time for the 200 breast this year, giving him a real chance at earning an invite.
