Nicholas Mahoney Verbally Commits to Xavier Musketeers for 2017-18

Nicholas Mahoney has made a verbal commitment to swim for Xavier University beginning in the fall of 2017.

Mahoney, who hails from Suwanee, Georgia, is a senior at North Gwinnett High School, where he holds school records in the 200 free, 500 free, and 400 free relay. Mahoney placed sixth in the 200 free (1:42.16) and third in the 500 free (4:33.61) at the 2017 GHSA 6-7 A State Swimming & Diving Meet last February. He was named to the All-State 1st team and notched All-American consideration times in the 500 free and as part of the 400 free relay.

Mahoney swims year-round for SwimAtlanta. He is the reigning Georgia Short Course Senior State champion in the 1000 free, winning the event at the December 2016 championships with 9:30.58. He was also runner-up in the 500 free and contributed to SwimAtlanta’s second-place 800 free relay. His best SCY times are:

  • 1000 free – 9:30.58
  • 500 free – 4:33.61
  • 200 free – 1:42.67
  • 200 back – 1:51.26
  • 100 back – 52.90

Mahoney will join fellow-commits Cameron Weese and Jared Ritz in the Xavier University class of 2021.
