NCSA Finalist Chloe Gustin to Compete for Navy Starting Fall 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Chloe Gustin, a finalist at the 2025 NCSA Spring Championship, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the U.S. Naval Academy beginning in the fall of 2027.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Naval Academy. Thank you to my family and friends who have supported me. Thank you Tim Hable and all of my other coaches for helping me become the swimmer I am today. Shoutout to Coach Mo, Coach Carlye, and Coach Clay for this amazing opportunity! Go Navy!!”

A junior at Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio, Gustin competed for her school’s varsity swimming and diving team during her freshman year, but has not appeared on the roster since. She currently swims year-round with Blazing Barracudas in Shaker Heights, where she primarily specializes in free, back and some IM.

Gustin made significant strides over the course of last season. At the 2024 NCAT Winter Invite in December, she turned in a series of top performances and personal best times. She won the 1000 free (10:25.00), throwing down a new lifetime best in the event. Gustin also took 2nd in the 100 free (55.82), 3rd in the 200 back (2:14.46), 4th in the 100 fly (1:03.64), 5th in the 50 free (25.59) and 12th in the 200 breast (2:41.64), clocking personal best times in every race except the 200 back.

A few months later, Gustin raced at the Lake Erie Winter Senior Championships, where she posted three lifetime best performances. She placed 3rd in the 200 free (1:56.31), 5th in the 200 IM (2:13.72 – PB) and 400 IM (4:41.77 – SB), 9th in the 100 back (59.68 – PB) and 10th in the 200 back (2:09.95 – PB).

At the 2025 NCSA Spring Championship, Gustin earned a second swim in the 500 free and turned in another series of top times. She placed 37th in the 500 free in a lifetime best time of 5:01.41 and took 16th in the 1650 free with a best time of 17:03.26. She clocked a new best time in the 200 free, throwing down a 1:55.27 as the leadoff on the 800 free relay. Gustin also contested the 200 free (1:56.02 – PB) and 1000 free (10:19.51) before racing a time trial of the 1000 free and setting a new best time of 10:15.63.

Gustin is off to a strong start so far this season, having posted a handful of season-best times at the FMC Speedo Grand Challenge in November. She finished 18th in the 500 free (5:10.27) after swimming a season-best time of 5:07.87 during prelims. Gustin logged a personal best in the 100 free (55.23) and season-bests in the 50 back (29.00) and 200 back (2:11.95), as well as racing the 50 free (26.90), 200 free (1:58.62) and 1000 free (10:39.90).

  • 1650 free – 17:03.26

A Division I Mid-Major program, Navy competes in the Patriot League, where the women’s team has won 13 straight conference championship titles. Based on the results from the 2025 Patriot League Championships, Gustin would have placed 6th in the 1650 free and landed in the ‘C’ final in the 500 free. With nearly two more seasons to go until Gustin arrives in Annapolis, it remains to be seen how exactly the roster will shake out, but she already looks to be in good shape to be a strong contributor for Navy.

Currently set to join Gustin in the pool in the fall of 2027 are Savannah Duffy, Alicia Czosnyka and Samantha Fenstermaker, who should make for strong training partners over their four years together.
