NC State Commit Sutton Forbis Sets Five Personal Bests At Washington State Senior SCY Meet

As 2025 comes to a close, 16-year-old Sutton Forbis of the Bellevue Club Swim Team made sure to enhance her national rankings in several events at the Washington State Senior SCY Championships.

Committed to NC State, Forbis swam personal best times in five events, winning four of them.

Forbis finished first in the 200 back (1:54.35), 100 fly (53.46), 200 fly (1:58.74) and 200 IM (2:00.44). Forbis was 2nd in the 50 fly in a time of 24.02, but it was a personal best and moved her to 2nd nationally in the 50 back among 16-year-old girls’ this season. Forbis is also 2nd in the 200 back, 7th in the 100 fly, 8th in the 200 fly and 10th in the 200 IM.

Forbis helped Bellevue win the girls’ team competition with 1,125 points. The Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club won the boys’ and combined team titles.

Other individual standouts:

  • Clare Watson, an 18-year-old Stanford commit from Bellevue Club, won four events in the girls’ competition, including edging out Forbis in the 50 back with a personal best time of 23.96. Watson also swam personal best times to win the 100 free (49.68) and 200 free (1:49.55), and won the 500 free in 4:54.76.
  • Also in the girls’ event, Vanderbilt commit Sophie Pham of Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club won the 50 back in 25.61 and the 100 back in 55.45.
  • In the boys’ competition, 16-year-old Charlie Cancelmo of Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club won the 100 free in a time of 44.42 and the 200 free in 1:37.07, both personal bests. Cancelmo also won the 200 fly in 1:46.82. In the 15-16 boys’ age group this season, Cancelmo is still 1st in the 200 fly with a time of 1:42.23, set a week earlier at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships — West. He is also 7th in the 100 free and 9th in the 200 free.
  • Owen Stauffer, a 16-year-old from Issaquah Swim Team, swam a 50 back leg of 22.16 in the 200 medley relay, moving him to 1st in that event for the boys’ 15-16 age group this year.
  • Aaron Bell, an 18-year-old from Issaquah Swim Team who has committed to Brown, won the 50 free in 20.16 and the 50 back in 22.14.
  • Grant Bellin, 15, from KING, won the 200 back in a time of 1:44.56, moving him to 2nd among 15-year-old boys’ this season in that event.
