Reagan Ragsdale, who recently helped Cape Girardeau Central to win their first ever Missouri High School team title with his double sprint and double relay wins at the 2016 Boys MSHSAA Championships, has committed to move north to the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay in the Fall of 2017. Ragsdale is a 5-time MSHSAA State Champion and was part of the State Record 200 Medley Relay that set their mark two full seconds ahead of any other squad in the 80 year history of the MSHSAA.  He is also a Winter Junior Nationals Qualifier and represents River City Aquatics in USA Swimming competition.

Cape Central Head Coach Dayna Powell told SwimSwam: “Reagan has been an amazing asset to our program. He displays dedication and commitment and is always ready to work hard. He sets a great example for everyone with his practice habits.”

River City Aquatics Head Coach Jason Cravens had this to say about Ragsdale: “One of things that really impressed me this season was his commitment to training and preparation.  He was more focused than ever on the detail work. He was very committed to his dryland work and didn’t miss an early morning workout all season.  The growth in this area from when I met him in January of 2015 has been tremendous and the recent individual and team success he enjoyed at the MSHSAA Boys State High School Championship was certainly earned and well deserved!”

Ragsdale’s top times:

  • 50 free- 20.92
  • 100 free- 45.83
  • 200 free 1:43.95
  • 100 back- 51.87
  • 100 fly 51.35

Ragsdale will immediately be a key player for Head Coach Reed Robelot’s Phoenix squad at the Horizon League Championship where his team earned a sixth place team finish in 2016.  Ragsdale’s best times would have made him the top team finisher in both the 50 and 100 freestyles last year and would have made him an integral part of relays.  The Green Bay men will benefit immediately from relay and individual points based on Ragsdale’s current times, which would have landed him solidly in last year’s championship B-final in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back.

“I chose Green Bay because of the team and coaches. It was exactly what I wanted it to be, the team made me feel welcome and made Green Bay a place where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life…  I love the unlimited food and the fries are amazing.”
