Missy: In the water, I’m always having the time of my life (Video)

Video captured by D’Artagnan Dias

Video produced by Coleman Hodges

In a pre-olympic press conference merely days before the games are to begin, Missy opened up to the press on a couple of different topics. The first of those was that in the cases that she doesn’t meet her goals or place where she wants to, Missy isn’t automatically the bubbly personality we have all taken her for in the past. She shows her more human side, and relates that she is more disappointed than anyone else when she has a swim that’s not up to stuff.

She also goes into detail about her relationship with long time coach Todd Schmitz, and how that relationship will last even after Missy is long done swimming. This interview shows a lot of growth from the last time that Franklin was on the olympic stage. She’s able to take a step and look at what she’s accomplished and what is still left for her to strive for, and you can see that in the way she’s approaching her training, her racing, heck, even her interviews. I think we will be in for a treat with Missy this time around, maybe not as much as a top performer, but as a true leader and role model on Team USA.
