Miami University swimming and diving take on the University of Cincinnati Jan 10th

Miami University’s men’s swimming and diving team rings in the New Year with a road meet at the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, Jan. 10 in the Keating Aquatic center at 1 p.m.

The RedHawks are back in the water after an extend break with their last competition being the Miami Invitation on Dec. 4-6. The Miami men finished fifth in the competition in front of Urbana. The Bearcats finished in second.

Senior Joe Baumgartner represented the RedHawks well with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Baumgartner also had strong showings in the 200-yard and the 100-yard backstroke. His accomplishments in the Invitational earned him MAC Swimmer of the Week. Baumgartner clocked a D1 provisional time of 20.20 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Another top finisher for the RedHawks was junior Heshan Unamboowe who led the team in 200-yard backstroke with his fourth-place finish followed by junior Sean Neri in fifth-place, respectively.

The Bearcats have had another meet since the Invitational when they fell to Georgia Tech on Dec. 20. Cincinnati is 1-3 in dual meets for this season.

This will also be the first meet of the new year for Cincinnati. Last year when the RedHawks swam against the Bearcats, Miami won, 162-134, at the Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, Ohio.
